Black day observed in Punjabi tappa style
LAHORE: One of the interesting features of the civil society’s protest rally at the Lahore High Court, taken out to observe the International Human Rights Day as a black day here on Monday, was the Punjabi tappa style sloganeering.
A few participants of the protest rally gathered in a circle and started rising well sought-out slogans in a typical Punjabi tappa style. Soon the rest of the mob joined them and clapped all the way. A few of those slogans were:
ballay ballay asan judgaan di bahali waikhni
PCO dian jarran kata k judgaan di bahali waikhni
(We want to see the judiciary restored; we will uproot the Provisional Constitutional Order)
ballay ballay bhae shehrian ne paye wakhtay
policaan beh gyan thaanay thakay shehrian ne paye wakhtay
(The citizens have rose to the occasion and now the police is in trouble)
ballay ballay bhae choraan ne judge dak laye
saday bolan tay pabandian la k choraan ne judge dak laye
(The thieves have caught the judges and put a ban on freedom of expression)
ballay ballay tor muzahmat di
kalay kapray tay kalay banner bol muzahmat ji
(Look how well the protest is being carried out by the lawyers and other civil society members)
The mob was also carrying candles, posters, banners and placards with slogans like adliya ko bahaal karo (Restore the judiciary), Go Musharraf Go and End State Terrorism.
A few media persons also carried black balloons with stickers of bol pasted on them. They tried to tie the balloons to the Lahore High Court gate that is used by the LHC Chief Justice, but the security personnel deployed there stopped them.
Then the mob released the black balloons in the air in front of the LHC main gate. nadia usman
